Biography
D. Alexander Warner (b. 1991) is an American conductor, composer and musician. Mr. Warner is currently pursuing a bachelor's in music education at Irvine Valley College (IVC). He performs with the IVC Jazz Ensemble, IVC Jazz Combo, IVC Wind Symphony, IVC Percussion Ensemble, and an IVC chamber group. He has been taught by many active musicians including Ben Lulich, former principal clarinetist of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, and Mathieu Girardet, instrumental music director of Irvine Valley College. New Orleans legend and jazz clarinet virtuoso Doreen Ketchens has described Alexander’s playing as "truly talented, full of positive energy…and a new, fresh style that raises eyebrows.”
Warner is a versatile musician, playing piano, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, violin, and singing. On and off the theater stage, he has performed in many musical productions such as Miss Saigon, Anything Goes, Les Misérables, Ragtime, Phantom of the Opera, Mary Poppins and more. An active musician, he has conducted and performed with wind symphonies and orchestras around the world and across the United States in venues including the Sydney Opera House, Carnegie Hall, Segerstrom Concert Hall, and recently at the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel. An award-winning composer, his piano works have been studied by composition students in other states, commissioned band works performed by wind symphonies, and had collaborated on a jingle which has been recently applied to a podcast. He is currently a high school music coach, private instructor and is in pursuit of a bachelor’s in music education in hopes to become a high school music director.
